It seems everywhere we look things seem to be dividing up. It’s really noticeable in politics, with different religions, and the rich vs the poor. But at the heart of what’s impacting the United States the most is that our beliefs or the principles we live by seem to be almost opposites.
___
SIDE ONE
Side One Tends to….
1 Have no desire to do any inner work (the practice of changing their thoughts, perceptions, attitudes, and emotions from attacking to loving).
2 Focus on winning at all costs, even to the point they are willing to cheat to win.
3 Blame anyone or anything else for their problems. They think they are victims of their circumstances.
4 Use others to “get” something. This could be to “get” money, sex, or labor, to name a few.
5 Be more angry, warlike, fearful, and close-minded.
6 Favor fighting and making huge sacrifices to win. They will even fight with others on their own side.
7 Be afraid of how relationships are changing, how the environment is changing, how the world is changing, and many others. This often makes them want to retreat to the way it was in the past.
8 Want to control other’s behaviors.
9 Think they can gain at another’s expense.
10 Believe the enemy is other people.
11 Be judgmental and have rigid beliefs.
The Problem with Leaning Toward SIDE ONE
The biggest problem with living with these beliefs and principles is that we will never triumph in the long term. We might win some battles, but not the war.
Why?
Because “like attracts like.” Another way of saying it is “we get back, what we give out.” That means angry people will end up fighting other angry people. If we blame others, others will blame us. If we want others punished for who they are, we will be punished for who we are. If we use others to “get” something, we will attract others that use us to “get something.”
The Long-Term Results
With this side, we will keep dividing by constantly being angry and fighting.
_______
SIDE TWO
Side Two Tends to…
1 Practice changing their thoughts, perceptions, attitudes, and emotions from attacking to loving.
2 Focus more on enjoying the experience, not winning at all costs.
3 Know that the outcome of their problems can shift drastically for the better by wanting everyone to win.
4 Treat others as they want to be treated.
5 Be more loving, open-minded, less afraid, and kind to others.
6 Desire peace and avoid conflict.
7 Know they can’t stop that everything is changing, are willing to change with the times, and think it’s leading to something better than before.
8 Want to understand other’s behaviors.
9 Know everyone has an important part to play in the world.
10 Think their worst enemy is their own fear and anger.
11 Be flexible and follow their intuition or inner guidance.
The Problem with Leaning Toward SIDE TWO
The biggest problem with living with these beliefs and principles is that it takes enormous amounts of faith. Side two often provides very little, if any, evidence that we can see, hear, taste, touch, or smell with our physical bodies. Because of this, we can easily become angry and afraid, and slip into side one’s beliefs.
The Long-Term Results
The more we work on staying in side-two’s beliefs, it will keep getting better. The physical evidence will come at the perfect time, along with the hindsight and understanding of why things happened the way they did.
