Why Are Most of Us Isolating or Detaching More than Ever?

Through the last few years, we have been almost forced to isolate and detach more than before. Covid’s lockdown probably was the most influential in this, but many have decided not to go back to the way it was. Here is a list of why we are in the midst of this shift.

9 Possible Reasons Why Most of Us Are Isolating or Detaching More Than Before

One Possible Reason is…

1   THE SPEED

Everything seems to be speeding up. Days, weeks, and months are flying by. It’s like we need to slow down, isolate, and take time to breathe before the next thing happens. Or we find ourselves trying to detach from as many things as we can by burying our heads in the sand. Not watching the news can be a way of detaching.

2   THE GROWING DIVIDE

There seems to be a growing divide in individual core beliefs or mindsets. Before, there was more common ground and the divide wasn’t as defined, but now it’s making some of us want to avoid friction, instead of engaging in it.

3   OUR NEED TO DO INNER WORK

Many of us have a stronger desire to find peace within this chaos. That often requires us to take some alone time to make what’s happening in the world a lower priority than our desire to make sense of it.

4  THE DECLINE OF FACE-TO-FACE SOCIALIZING

With the help of social media, and the travel time needed, the desire to gather with other individuals in one place at a certain hour hasn’t been as popular as it once was.

5  HAVING LESS TOLERANCE FOR CERTAIN RELATIONSHIPS

What we were willing to put up with before is becoming more difficult to be around.  Many of us are declining invites from certain people, walking away from listening to certain people bad-mouthing others, or leaving when certain people begin acting out bad behaviors.

6   MOST WORK ENVIRONMENTS ARE CHANGING

It seems like companies are becoming more focused on profits and rewarding a few than treating the majority of employees and customers fairly. This trend has made many of us, at least mentally detach from our work. Most of us need to feel we have a purpose and are appreciated to really care about our work.

7   FEELING BURNT OUT

In the last few years, many of us have pushed ourselves to keep up with work demands, domestic duties, family responsibilities, social events, and increasing financial pressures. Have you noticed the growing popularity of energy drinks and the amount of caffeine we consume?

There are a lot of us taking some alone time and disengaging from, at least some of our busyness.

8   TRYING TO DETACH FROM STRESSFUL EVENTS

Technology has made it possible to be aware of a variety of things happening all over the world very quickly. This can easily cause us to feel overstimulated, and overwhelmed. Taking some “me” time to reflect on the big picture and putting things in perspective can help immensely.

9   TO FEEL SAFER

Only a few years ago, the majority of us found our safety or security from things OUTSIDE of ourselves. We counted heavily on external traditions, systems, and policies leaders established and implemented, such as financial systems, corporations, government, organized religions, our parents, and our cultural traditions. That has been quickly changing. We’re finding out that things OUTSIDE of us are not as reliable as they used to be and don’t always do things that are in our highest good. That’s often driving us to detach from the dependency and go INWARD to hone our intuitive abilities to feel safe and secure.
