As a business coach, I’m always looking for the latest trends and how to stay ahead of the crowd. Last year my intuition told me to read What Would Google Do? by Jeff Jarvis. That got me on a roll. Since then I have read several books, searched the net, attended seminars, and even developed three workshops based on How Marketing is Changing & Why we Need to Pay Attention. A primary message of those workshops is that authenticity and honesty is replacing the old paradigm of hyped-up, hard-sell marketing.
Here’s Why I Think Building Trust is Real Important for our Business, Especially Now…
- As a society, we are getting real tired of individuals and companies making false promises, keeping secrets, and not taking responsibility.
- Impulse buying is slowing down. People are more aware of what they want to spend their money on.
- People are doing more research and consider a decision over a longer period of time before making a commitment.
- The ways we use to get clients through various marketing and advertising methods is not as effective as before.
To have a successful business, we’re going to have to dial down the overblown and manipulative marketing – like saying “we” when your business is really just one person. And we’re going to have to deal with our clients from a place of truth telling. The more we open up, the more trust we build.
