Being in the moment is becoming engaged in whatever we're doing - completely. It is developing a different perspective of the present moment and taking in all that it has to offer. Being in the moment is not something we make happen, it is something we let happen. Being in the moment is something we experience.

When we want to be fully present, we can...

Be aware of our thoughts about the past or the future. Train your mind to bring your thoughts back to the present moment. I tell my mind, "Thanks for sharing, but I'm only concerned with right now."

Observewithout judgment. Really notice your surroundings. Be aware of your environment, how your body feels, the temperature, the smells, what you are hearing or seeing and how you're feeling emotionally.

Focus on our breathing.

Be open.Don't be a know-it-all and miss the treasured messages that can be found in the present moment. Adopt a willingness to listen and learn.

Begin listing the things we are grateful for. I like to say what I'm grateful for and after every person, place or thing say, "Thank you, God."
