One of my longtime career and life coaching clients is Kelly Loeffler. I have seen her in very difficult life situations step up, get out of the fear of what others will think, and do the right thing.
I recently asked Kelly to tell a story of overcoming feeling alone.
Here’s a recap of her story of being afraid, scared, and lonely…
Who would think something as simple as a pen could have made my day so much better. Let me tell you a story that happened to me involving a pen.
It was a Saturday, and I was having a really bad day. I was afraid, scared and lonely. I woke up feeling that way. I had to go out and do some errands and as I was driving to the store I remembered that I need to do affirmations. Those will help me get out of this feeling I was having. I did the one’s that are my favorites “There is nothing to fear ever.” “There is nothing to fear ever.” “There is nothing to fear ever.”And then I did the other one I like, “God walks with me always.” “God walks with me always.” “God walks with me always.” I kept repeating those over and over as I was doing my errands.
The last stop I had was Staples. 5 o’clock on Saturday afternoon there was no one there but me and the people that work there. So, I go in an isle looking at the pens. I was standing there looking at the pens still feeling awful, feeling desperate. Before I knew it there was another customer there in this practically empty store, standing next to me also looking at pens.
She started a conversation with me about the different pens. Before I knew it she was talking to me about her family and all kinds of stuff. I had this 15 min. conversation with her that started out about pens. By the time see walked away, I felt so much better. Just from having talked to somebody, a stranger, a complete stranger and when she walked away I realized it was like a little miracle. How God bought her to me just when I needed someone, the right person at the right time. And it was a MIRACLE to me.
